Since 1851

H Mealing & Sons started trading as a family run, local domestic builder. Over many years and generations the firm has grown in size and reputation to become one of the most trusted building contractors in the South West. Whilst maintaining its family run status and ethos the company has been able to develop great relations with a number of local authorities, commercial bodies and trusts, diversifying into a number of different specialised markets such as education and social care. Our personal approach to building and quality of work has been the bedrock of our longevity and success. Please take a look at some of our case studies and sectors for more examples of how we can help with your next building project.

Our Values

These values and our approach to them are what makes H Mealing & Sons a sustainable and successful company.

The old adage in construction rings true ‘measure twice, cut once’. We value the satisfaction you get in delivering a build that is built to last and that will bring joy to the end user and its clients. Whatever your financial budget may be, we believe care and attention can be brought to every project and quality can always be achieved.

From 1851 to this current day, H Mealing & Sons have and will always have a company director overseeing your project. We make ourselves available at all stages from enquiry to completion.

We bring decades of experience, knowledge and skill to every construction project we are involved in. Our workforce is time served and many are masters in their chosen trade.

Safety is of paramount importance in an industry that has the highest risk of injury in the UK. We would not be a successful, sustainable company without working to accredited safety guidance and operate to ISO 45001.

See accredited bodies below of which we are members.
“We couldn’t recommend them enough. I describe them as our part of our ‘dream team’…… we have worked with many team members and receive solid and consistent service and product. They have worked with us during school hours/terms for the past four years…. I’m only sorry to not have a CIF bid this year so as to keep them all to myself!!”
